Vibro Displacement Piling

DAWSON-WAM provide a vibro displacement piling solutions with pile diameters ranging from 300mm to 525mm. This solution utilises a piling rig mounted vibration hammer and tubular attachment to displace the ground and replace the ground with stone or concrete. This is particularly advantageous in sites containing contaminated grounds as the process generates little spoil and therefore removes the requirement for contaminated material to be removed off site.

DAWSON-WAM own and operate the largest vibro piling rigs currently available in the UK which utilise the latest technology maximise the output from these powerful rigs.

Vibro Concrete Columns

Vibro concrete columns (typically referred to as VCCs) are a very time and cost efficient method of providing solid foundations in softer ground. Vibro Concrete Columns also provide a more sustainable solution as they produce much less spoil than conventional piling system and typically use less concrete.

Vibro concrete columns can be installed quickly in suitable ground conditions and offer a viable option for industrial and commercial units, transport infrastructure and housing.

The process of installing vibro concrete columns involves vibro driving an especially designed tube into the ground, displacing the ground as it is driven. As the tube is extracted concrete is pumped through the base of tube replacing the ground. For increased capacity the tube is redriven into the fresh concrete as pumping continues to enlarge the base of the concrete column. The rigs system continually monitors the installation process to ensure a quality column is formed. Steel reinforcing can then be placed within the column to provide lateral restraint or tension capacity.

To reduce stresses on the above structure an enlarged head can be formed to the pile. This allows the load from the structure to be spread over a larger area.

Vibro Stone Columns

Vibro stone columns (typically referred to as VSCs) are a very time and cost efficient method of improving the ground bearing capacity of softer soils and reducing differential settlement.

Vibro stone columns can be installed quickly in suitable ground conditions and offer a viable option for industrial and commercial units, transport infrastructure and housing. Above this strip or pad foundations, bearing slab or reinforced soil can be placed to allow loads to be transferred into the stone columns.

Vibro stone columns can also be used as drains to reduce the water content in saturated soils.

The process of installing vibro stone columns involves vibro driving an especially designed tube with top loading hopper into the ground, displacing the ground as it is driven. Once driven to depth the hoper is loaded with stone and as the tube is extracted stone replaces the soil. The tube is incrementally redriven into the stone to ensure stone is compacted. The piling rig has monitoring software which ensures compaction of the stone and that a quality stone column is produced.
