Northern Ireland: Newry Flood Alleviation Stages 2 and 3

DAWSON-WAM Ltd was awarded Stages 2 & 3 for the construction of 1000m of reinforced concrete masonry faced river wall to replace the existing masonry structure along the east bank of the Newry River between Clonrye and Dublin Road Bridge, through the commercial centre of Newry. The contract also involved the laying of a section of large diameter gravity sewer required in connection with the upgrading of the city's sewerage system.

Liaison with the Local Community helped to minimise the affect of the works on the everyday business of Newry City centre. This was formally acknowledged in a letter of congratulations to Dawson WAM from Newry & Mourne Council.
