DAWSON WAM is proud to announce the successful completion of piling works for the new quay wall development at the Port of Dundee for GRAHAM Group.

The works involved the installation of a new combi wall comprising 559mm tubular king piles and PU32 sheet piles, with pile lengths reaching up to 30.5m and weights of up to 10.8 tonnes.

To meet the project’s challenging installation requirements, a combination of conventional piling techniques and ABI TM22 leader rig installation methods were utilised to ensure all piles achieved design level. A cantilever piling gate system was specially implemented, allowing installation 400mm in front of the open quay deck and 900mm below existing deck level.

With existing fender positions requiring precise alignment, maintaining strict control of pile creep and verticality was critical throughout the works.

Using one of our powerful ABI TM22 leader rigs, DAWSON-WAM successfully installed the piles by:
• Pinning piles in position with a 30VV vibro hammer
• Driving piles to level using a D30-52 impact hammer
• Augering through the centre of the tubular piles to help piles achieve required toe levels

The combination of the piling gate system and leader rig methodology ensured the works were completed safely, accurately, and within a demanding programme.

The works follow on from the successful installation of 112nr CHS piles up to 24.2m long for an extension of the deck structure completed at the end of 2025.

A fantastic effort by all involved and another successful marine infrastructure project delivered by the DAWSON-WAM team.
