Last Friday, during a planned site stand down on one of our projects in the South West of England, we stopped 4 of the piling teams on the site for a day focused on health, quality and behaviours.
It was a fantastic chance to take time out from our busy operations to invest in our people through a series of engaging, interactive and enjoyable sessions.
A huge thank you to Jane McClenaghan from Vital Nutrition Ltd, who gave us a fascinating insight into nutritional health, helping us understand the impact of what we eat and the small, practical changes we can make to improve our wellbeing.
Lorna Hagan CQP from ConstructTuition delivered an excellent session on quality, including a brilliant hands on LEGO exercise that brought key quality principles to life and generated plenty of discussion and laughter along the way.
We also welcomed Gary Prout CGC, who led a series of engaging workshops exploring the values, biases and behaviours that influence the decisions we make, particularly when working under pressure. Really thought provoking exercises.
Meanwhile, the work on site continued, with members of the team helping to showcase the construction industry to more than 150 local school pupils. Through virtual reality headsets and practical exercises using dumpy levels, the students were given a hands-on introduction to the world of construction and engineering as part of a wider site engagement programme.
A fantastic day all round, demonstrating our commitment to developing our people, promoting quality and wellbeing, and inspiring the next generation of construction professionals.
