PROJECT DETAILS

CLIENT:
Wessex Water

MAIN CONTRACTOR:
WECS Civils

LOCATION:
Bristol

DAWSON-WAM has installed a permanent sheet piled retaining wall, together with temporary cofferdam works for the expansion and improvement of the existing the storm water pumping station at Ashton Avenue, Bristol, being undertaken by Wessex Water.

DAWSON-WAM also installed cased CFA concrete bearing piles for the various structures and large diameter inlet pipline which are being constructed within the scheme.

Approximately 130t of sheet piles were installed utilising DAWSON-WAM’s RTG25S leader rig, equipped with 125t vibro hammer attachment.

The leader attachment was then changed to DAWSON-WAM’s double-drive fully cased auger system for the cased CFA concrete bearing pile installation.

Ground conditions consisted of various layers of fill over soft to stiff clay, with silt layers and boulders. Site access was via a steep incline and operations were within the boundaries of the very small site in Bristol.
