Placement Student Joins DAWSON-WAM’s Mechanical Engineering Department for the Summer

Over the summer we had placement student Katie McVeigh, who is studying Mechanical Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast, join our Mechanical Engineering Department to assist with creation of digital delivery models. Here she is pictured getting a closer look at our RTG RG25S piling rig and boring tooling, and also some examples of the models she generated during her time with us. Katie is now starting her final year at Queen’s and we wish her the best of luck with her studies and future career.

Our in-house mechanical engineers are currently developing 3D/4D models of all our piling rigs and specialist machinery to use in 5D scheduling with programs such as Navisworks. Integrating these with a client's site specific model can aid with method statements, risk assessment, programming, site visualisation, clash detection and digital rehearsals, and informs relevant parties with a visual representation of our works before they start on site.
