The DAWSON-WAM remit was to provide the piling solution for a 7m to 10m excavation, to enable construction of a basement in Belfast City Centre.

A secant perimeter wall composed of 750mm secant piles was proposed to act as temporary support for the excavation and to provide vertical load bearing capacity for the building superstructure.

DAWSON-WAM provided the design and all engineering supervision for the works.

In addition to the secant perimeter support, works included provision of a concrete capping beam, installation of temporary tubular steel props up to 914mm diameter, all excavation works, installation of 300 nr 600mm diameter concrete cased CFA piles (150 Tonnes each pile) and the construction of all pile caps.

DAWSON-WAM completed the works to the required quality within both budget and the programme period of 7.5 months.
