DAWSON-WAM win at the FPS Awards 2018…. and other news!
DAWSON-WAM win at the FPS Awards 2018
We had a great night yesterday evening at the The Federation of Piling Specialists Awards in London where we won the Safety Innovation Award. Congratulations to Michael Molloy and Matthew Surgenor who were shortlisted but narrowly missed out on individual awards.
It was an excellent evening, with a tremendously inspirational speech given by the evening’s host Coaching Legend, Sir Clive Woodward OBE. The evening celebrated all that is good about the piling sector, through the FPS Award’s presentation.
DAWSON-WAM have been working with Highway Resource Solutions Ltd to develop the Safelane Check Point system and we have been trialling and successfully using this system on sites since 2016. The system is ideal for Smart Motorway Projects and protects the working area by alerting the workforce at the workface when a laser barrier is broken at the working area entrance.
The safety innovation was also highly commended at the Taylor Woodrow Supply Chain Awards 2018.
DAWSON-WAM Open's House In Belfast
Dawson WAM’s Ormeau Avenue Project for Northern Ireland Water proudly featured as part of the Open House Belfast Festival on the 19th of Oct. A presentation and site tour of the scheme sparked conversation on what lies beneath the streets on Belfast. The presentation illustrated the tunnelling of sewers progressed below the some of the main arterial routes of the city, unawares to the commuters above.
The works is a £5M investment by Northern Ireland Water to upgrade and improve the sewage infrastructure in the Lower Ormeau and Dublin Road Areas in Belfast. The project will reduce environmental pollution to the River Lagan and sewer flooding, and will enable future growth and development in Belfast City Centre. The scheme is an excellent example of the importance of infrastructure to help reduce the risk of flooding and raising environmental standards.
Work progress at pace in Nine Elms
Excavation and structural works are progressing well on our basement project for UK Power Networks’ new 132kV substation in Nine Elms, London. DAWSON-WAM installed the secant pile wall, load bearing piles, capping beam and temporary propping on the project. Works took place in close proximity to sensitive neighbouring assets, including railway infrastructure. Logistics within the site have been carefully managed within a small site footprint.
